Language
The language of instruction in many higher education institutions in Turkey is Turkish and/or English. There are also a few higher education institutions where the language of instruction is German or French. Meanwhile, many Turkish-medium universities offer some courses in English. If you have enrolled in a program whose language of instruction is Turkish, you must learn Turkish.

Turkey is an ideal place for international students who want to study English and learn Turkish, one of the most spoken languages in the world. If you intend to learn Turkish, you can apply to ERSEM (University of Erciyes Continuing Education Center).

Accommodation

Foreign students can stay in private dormitories or rental houses. All fees should be paid in Turkish Lira. Regardless of their nationality, all foreign students can pay the same fees as Turkish students. In addition, most dormitories in Kayseri are divided into girls' dormitories and boys' dorms. Students should bring enough cash that can be easily converted into Turkish Lira. Fees range from roughly 500-1000 TL per month. Credit cards may not be accepted.

All procedures regarding accommodation in state dormitories in Turkey are carried out by the Credit and Hostels Institution. For detailed information, you can visit the www.kyk.gov.tr web page.

Health

All international students studying in Turkey can benefit from "general health insurance". If you benefit from general health insurance, you can benefit from all public hospitals free of charge, and private hospitals by paying a small contribution. You can visit ERYOK to get information about benefiting from general health insurance in Turkey. Then, you can go to the Social Security Institution with the necessary documents and make your application. When you complete your application, you can pay the general health insurance fee monthly within one month after registering with the Social Security Institution.

If you do not apply for general health insurance within three months after enrolling in the university, you cannot benefit from the general health insurance opportunities provided by the state. However, if you have international health insurance, you can use this insurance or benefit from private health insurance. Some universities offer private health insurance for their international students. Turkey is known for providing quality health services at low prices. Therefore, many patients from developed countries in the west as well as neighboring countries prefer to come to Turkey for dental treatment, eye examination, surgery, etc.

Until you benefit from health insurance in Turkey, it is recommended that you visit your dentist before you come to avoid any problems, take your spare contact lenses and glasses with you, and have a first aid kit.
